Is there an opportunity for your to get you book into the airport bookstores?

The Hierarchy of Bookstores

The objective of every author is to get their book seen by as many people as possible because the more people who see it, the more people are likely to buy it.

For this reason every author wants the most visible location. The problem comes from the fact that the book seller only has so much physical space and they want to fill that space with the books that sell the most, the fastest.

Plagiarism and how to avoid it
Over the years while offering courses on self-publishing, e-publishing, web site design, and several others, I've often been asked about the legality of using other people’s work.

When I wrote Trademarks and Copyrights for the Clueless®, I included several somewhat specific guidelines but deliberately avoided citing the law, other than what I had included as direct references.

The one thing that I know for sure is that there are ways to legally include the works of others in your own as long as you follow the current legal guidelines for doing so.

How To Sell Your eBook In The Apple iBook Store
I’ve been informed by many of my E-publishing seminar attendees that apple has made it impossible for them to sell their e-books though the Apple IBook store.

This isn’t exactly true although they’re not the easiest on-line e-book seller to work with.

To help stock the iBook store with plenty of titles, Apple has came up a way for you to sell your eBook in their iBook store! They’ll list your e-book for FREE, but you MUST comply with their guidelines for listing in the Apple iBook store (Like mandating that you must use a Macintosh® computer).

PDF Resources for your Books and E-Books

If you’re going to be offering your materials in a pay-per-download format, you’ll most likely be required by the sites that list your material for sale to convert it to PDF format before you submit it.

Selling your materials from your web site

When you decide to sell your materials from your web site it’s most likely that the visitor/buyer will be using a credit card to make their purchase.

That means that you must have the ability to accept their credit cards in order to receive payment.

This ability is known as “merchant account status” and traditionally it has been long, involved and complicated to obtain this status.

Creative Commons Licensing

I'm constantly getting a lot of questions about what we can legally use of other peoples in our writing efforts including what we can put on our websites that was created by somebody else.

We'll get into a lot more detail later on in the copyright section about what you can legally do or not do with somebody else's material but in the meantime, it's important that we define and understand something that came into being in the last decade known as a creative Commons license.

The Marketplace Fairness Act

Why passage of a federal Internet sales tax law could impact your E-commerce business

After nearly two years on the Congressional bench, the Marketplace Fairness Act (MFA) is again making the rounds.
